Ever wonder about those stray fibers that float around in the air and happen to somehow land in one of the culture droplets? They are especially noticeable under darkfield observations.

Check it out –this photo was taken of a culture droplet containing a fiber of unknown origin. You can clearly see the Aspergillus sp. growing out of the fiber, nourished by the culture media….
