Editor’s Corner: “EmbryoSpeak” – YURI

By now I’m sure most of you have heard of the passing of Yuri Verlinsky, Ph.D. (Ishim, Siberia 9/01/1943 to Chicago, IL. 7/16/2009). To say it was a shock to most of us is an understatement. Yuri was everywhere, doing everything, being the creative innovator in the world of reproductive science and medicine. That’s why when anyone said “Yuri” there was no question of whom they were referring. There is little public record of how Yuri transformed himself out of Siberia (was he really the first frozen embryo baby?) into Russian educational main stream, but there is a prodigious amount of scientific literature hallmarking…
