Introduction
Evaluation and selection of pronuclear (PN) embryos for subsequent culture and transfer is necessary in countries where embryo selection must occur at the PN stage because laws prohibit cryopreservation of multi-cell embryos or blastocysts (1, 2). Where such restrictions do not exist, utility of PN scoring is unclear because of rather complex grading systems, inconsistent results, limited importance of PN grading compared to assessment of morphology at later stages, and the quali- tative nature of grading zygotes during a dynamic period of development. Because of these factors, PN grading is not a routine practice in many IVF clinics….
